Italian cross-country veteran Martino Fruet will face the Downhill competition on the snow on Saturday, February 15th on the Tonale Pass' Alpe Alta slope
La Winter Downhill is the playground of riders with gut and thirsty for fun. You don’t need to be a Downhill specialist to take in the eighth edition of the event organized by the Grandi Eventi Val di Sole at the Tonale Pass, and enjoy it in full. On Saturday, February 15th, Italian Cross-Country veteran Martino Fruet (Lapierre-Trentino) will take part in the La Winter DH for the first time in his career, together with his teammate Anna Oberparleiter.
Winner of a Mountain Bike World Cup stage, the 42-year-old from Trentino is a competitive rider, careless of his age, as he keeps racing with great enthusiasm, always looking for new experiences on the bike: Enduro, Cyclo-cross, Gravel and now, Downhill on the snow.
"It will be my first time at La Winter Downhill – Fruet said – and I don't know what to expect, but I'm looking forward to enjoying the race and have plenty of fun. It's a unique competition: the course conditions are not the usual we get used to, and this race is promising a big show. Downhillers are the favourites, but La Winter DH can be a formative experience even for Cross Country specialists".
In addition to Fruet, another Lapierre-Trentino rider, Anna Oberparleiter, will participate in La Winter Downhill. Representative of the Italian National team in several occasions, the South Tyrolean stood up to the chance to test herself in another discipline. After all, multidisciplinarity is an additional value in modern cycling, casting the champions toward success.
2020 Winter DH's formula is an Eliminator race: athletes are divided into several heats, the winners of each will advance to the next round. The balance skills will make the difference in the race, decreeing the La Winter DH winners in the MTB and eMTB categories. Registrations are open on the Grandi Eventi Val di Sole's website.
