From Mountain Bike to Cyclo-Cross in three months: Val di Sole is ready to welcome another major cycling event in a unique year. On December 11-12, Vermiglio (Trentino) will celebrate the return of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in Italy after five seasons, and a historic debut for Val di Sole in this discipline, three months after hosting a record-setting edition of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
The venue of Vermiglio’s San Leonardo Lakes, near the Tonale Pass, home of the Trial World Cup in the past, is ready to welcome a unique event. Val di Sole will host the highest CX World Cup stage of all time (Vermiglio is located 1.261 mt a.s.l.), with the Alps in the background and snow on the racing field, offering unprecedented and unpredictable technical situations.
The organizing committee, led by Grandi Eventi Val di Sole and the Val di Sole Tourist Board in collaboration with the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium, has now opened the online ticket sales on the website. Tickets are available at €10, with free entry for children up to 12 years of age. A valid COVID pass is required for all adults older than 12.
The weekend in Vermiglio starts on Saturday, December 11th, with two hours of free practice (14.00-16.00 CET), followed by another two-hour session on Sunday, December 12th (11.30-13.20 CET) and by the two races: Elite Women at 13.30 CET, Elite Men at 14.55 CET.
From Dutch superstars Mathieu Van der Poel and Marianne Vos, to Belgian Wout Van Aert and MTB Olympic gold medal, Brit Tom Pidcock, the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup has established many outstanding champions in recent years, who significantly impacted cycling making it even more spectacular. With 60 minutes of full gas action, the cyclo-cross races do not stand wait-and-see tactics, delivering an exciting show for on-field and TV fans.
On December 11-12, the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup will return in Italy 5 years after the stage organized in Fiuggi (Lazio), won by Wout Van Aert and Marianne Vos. It’s might not be time for predictions yet, except for an easy one: Vermiglio and Val di Sole are warming up for an incredible event.
