The International Cycling Union (UCI) and Flanders Classics have announced the 2023/2024 UCI Cyclocross World Cup calendar. Racing is scheduled for December 10th in Vermiglio (Trentino, Italy)
Val di Sole and Trentino will host the Italian round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup for the third season in a row. On Sunday, December 10th, Vermiglio will host the seventh stop on the 2023/2024 calendar.
After debuting on the international scene in 2021, last December cyclocross fans enthusiastically welcomed the “snowcross” show to the unique San Leonardo Lakes region, as well as witnessed it from afar on television screens around the world.
Cyclocross superstars are ready to do battle again in singular conditions: the Italian event is the only one slated to be raced entirely on a snow-covered racecourse. Last December, the European Champion, Belgian racer Michael Vanthourenhout, and Dutch racer Puck Pieterse prevailed on the Vermiglio snow.
“We are happy to host the UCI Cyclocross World Cup for the third season in a row. It’s a clear sign of how we won the challenge posed by the Flanders Classics two years ago,” said the Val di Sole Tourism Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole President, Luciano Rizzi. “The world cup event represents a great opportunity for our region to established itself as an iconic event for our winter season. The cyclocross project is ready to pave the way for our new Alpine Gravel tourism project, which we expect to be a key asset to our bike offerings.”
Grandi Eventi Val di Sole and Val di Sole Tourism Board are the organizers of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup event in Val di Sole with consultation supplied by Flanders Classics and support provided by the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium.
Following the announcement of the Vermiglio date, the Val di Sole Bikeland bike calendar is complete. From June 30th to July 2nd, the valley will host the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup (downhill, four cross, short track, and cross-country) in Daolasa di Commezzadura.
In addition, after welcoming the Bike Transalp to Malé on July 12-13, Val di Sole will organize the second edition of the Val di Sole BikeFest, a unique three-day event dedicated to the bike world. The schedule consists of a weekend with plenty of activities for all types of bikers set in an area that is best discovered from the saddle: bike tours, guided excursions, excellent food and drink, events for the youngsters, and much more.
