The Trentino valley that will host the 2021 MTB World Championships will also be home of the World Championships from August 26th to 30th, 2026. The International Cycling Union has formalized the assignment at the congress in Imola
During the Road World Championships in Imola, very good news has arrived for Italian cycling. The International Cycling Union (UCI) has named Val di Sole the official venue of the 2026 MTB World Championships.
Waiting to stage the 2021 edition of the MTB World Championships, Daolasa di Commezzadura and Trentino are already looking forward to hosting a new World Championships’ challenge five years later. The 2026 World Championships will include the disciplines of Cross Country Olympic (XCO), Cross Country team relay (XCR), Cross Country Short Track (XCC), Downhill (DHI) and E-Mountain Bike, and will take place from August 26th to August 30th.
Val di Sole celebrates a fourth World Championships event in less than twenty years. From the first time in 2008, passing through the encore of 2016, to the 2021 and 2026 editions.
Between the two upcoming editions of the World Championships (2021 and 2026), the long legacy of the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will continue, with the next event already scheduled in Daolasa di Commezzadura for the 2022 season. In addition, 2021 will mark the return of the UCI Trials World Cup, whose Val di Sole stage will take place from July 30th to August 1st in Vermiglio. The MTB and Trials World Cup events in Val di Sole could not held in the 2020 season due to limitations related to the COVID emergency.
"This new show of confidence from the UCI fills us with pride," explains the President of Val di Sole Tourist Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole Luciano Rizzi, "being elected to host another World Championships’ edition even before the 2021 event says a lot about the consideration and reputation that Grandi Eventi Val di Sole has been able to entice in 20 years of top-notch appointments."
