Bicycles have always been the main protagonist for the summer in Val di Sole (Trentino, Northern Italy). Now, more than ever before is time to discover the beauty of the valley along 300 Km of trails and legendary tours such as the "Epic Tour Grande Guerra" (World War First)
For almost 20 years now, Val di Sole (Trentino) is the Italian capital for bike lovers, especially for Mountain Bike riders. Despite the cancellation of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup round, the heart of the valley keeps beating for cycling, in view of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships scheduled for August 2021.
Like every year, Val di Sole is ready to host the cyclists' flow coming to pedal in nature. Challenging and technical trails, exciting Bike Park tracks, family-friendly bike rides: Val di Sole allows anyone to live an outstanding outdoor experience.
300 KM OF TRAILS, FOR EVERY RIDER
Val di Sole is famous worldwide for one of the most challenging Downhill tracks in the World: the Blake Snake. However, the valley offers diversified routes dedicated to MTB, eMTB, and Enduro, available for choice based on the athlete's condition: from medium and easy trails to the tours, which represent a considerable challenge also for well-trained bikers.
In Val di Sole, over 300 Km of trails are ready for riders craving for fun, relaxing, or challenging themselves on epic routes, while exploring great scenarios. The Epic Tour Grande Guerra (59 Km and 2431 m. +) traverses the Stelvio Natural Park with a fascinating course between ancient Alpine buildings and relics of World War 1. The trails are surrounded by the Presanella and San Matteo glaciers and the beautiful views over Val di Sole and Val di Pejo. An experience to live while riding the Montozzo track, suited for well-trained bikers and the eMTB lovers.
The trail 'Lago dei Caprioli' (57 Km and 1920 m. +) is just as challenging. After the start at the Rifugio Solander, riders will face a climb to Rifugio Orso Bruno (Monte Vigo), before getting into the technical part of the trail, characterized by short ascents and gravel roads, along with technical paths. The route finishes at the Lago dei Caprioli, one of the most iconic lakes in Val di Sole.
The trail Monte Peller (30,8 Km and 1570 m +), is the best choice for riders who want to pedal through a variety of different paths and scenarios: from the woods to hot and dry areas south of the Monte Peller, and the vast fields characteristic of the high mountain near Passo Forcola.
With its 42 Km, from Ossana to Tonale Pass, the trail 'Tour dei Forti' is ideal to discover the magnificent views of Presanella: a suggestive high altitude course characterized by Austrian relics dating back to World War I.
The tours of Val di Pejo and Val di Rabbi represent an ideal opportunity for riders who want to immerse themselves in nature, facing challenging as well as rewarding routes.
For the Enduro lovers, Val di Sole offers one of the most challenging and long-wise trails, 'La Preda.' 12 Km of technical and natural descent with stones and roots: the most authentic soul of Val di Sole.
The trail 'Val Meledrio' is family-friendly: in fact, the smooth descents of the Brenta Natural Park are also suited to children over ten years old. The route is easily reachable thanks to Val di Sole's Bike Bus service.
TWO BIKE PARKS, FOR THE MOST ADRENALINIC EXPERIENCE
Despite the cancellation of the 2020 UCI World Cup rounds, the Val di Sole Bike Parks are ready to suggest unique emotions during the summer.
The BikePark Pontedilegno-Tonale will open its gates on July 4th, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm until September 6th. The Bike Park Val di Sole in Commezzadura will run its season from August 1st to 23rd, 2020, from 8:30 to 12:45 am and from 2:00 to 5:15 pm, due to extraordinary maintenance work on the cableway.
The Val di Sole BikePark is suited for the most experienced riders, with two tracks of medium difficulty, White Wolf and Golden Eagle, the challenging track Wild Grizzly and the temple of the international Downhill, the Black Snake.
Instead, the BikePark Pontedilegno-Tonale is the first BikePark family-friendly in Trentino: even the youngsters will be able to live the emotions of the gravity on flowy trails. The colors determine the degree of difficulty for the eight tracks: 2 blue (easy), 4 red (medium), 2 black (difficult).
Val di Sole also has three Kids BikePark, located in Folgarida, Marilleva 1400 and Pellizzano, created for helping children to develop their riding skills safely.
VAL DI SOLE CYCLE PATH AWAITS THE LOVERS OF THE 'ROAD'
Off-road cycling but not only: in Val di Sole, cyclists get the opportunity to ride fantastic routes dedicated to road cycling. The Val di Sole cycle path, from Cogolo di Peio to Mostizzolo, is 35 Km long and flows along the Noce rives (168 mt. of elevation gain and 710 mt of elevation loss). The course is also suited for e-Bike, thanks to 13 "Noce Boxes", tool stations with charging ports and tools in case of mechanicals. Besides, with the Bike Train and the Bike Bus is possible to climb up the valley easily without pedaling any further. The service is free for the Val di Sole Guest Card holders.
The Val di Sole is also the starting location to face the climb of Tonale Pass, touched several times by the Giro d'Italia route.
SACCO: "A COMPLETE OFFER, IN CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT"
"We want to offer our visitors a bike product at a high level, despite the difficult situation – said Val di Sole Tourist Board's Director Fabio Sacco. – "The restrictions of the BikePark Val di Sole for the 2020 summer season will help us grow, given the 2021 MTB World Championships. We expect to grow even further, integrating our bike offer with important novelties. The valley is perfect to be discovered on the bike, in the middle of nature and in total safety".
The rules concerning the social distancing will be respected in the Bike Parks and service areas. All the lifts will also be adequately sanitized, and air exchange will be guaranteed on the cableways.
IN 2021, VAL DI SOLE HOSTS THE MTB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Val di Sole stage of UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will not occur during the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 health emergency. However, the appointment with World-class Mountain Bike in Val di Sole is only postponed. The UCI Mountain Bike World Championships (Cross Country, Downhill and Four-Cross) are due to return in Trentino in 2021, from August 25th to 29th, in Daolasa di Commezzadura. Val di Sole will host the third edition of the MTB World Championships of the last 13 years: the Bike Land debuted in the top-end MTB when hosting the Worlds in 2008. An experience later repeated in 2016.
