From June 14th to June 16th, Val di Sole will host another edition of the WHOOP UCI MTB World Series dedicated to sustainability. Without nature and its beauty, there can be no mountain bike: for this reason, the protection of the environment and its integrity must be at the heart of the thoughts and strategies of those who manage a bike destination, who therefore have an even greater responsibility towards this wealth.
Numerous measures have been put in place by the organizing committee to safeguard the surrounding environment highlighting its beauty and peculiarities.
WATER, A RESOURCE FOR THE TERRITORY
It is not new that water represents a valuable asset for the whole world and in particular for the Val di Sole, where the theme of water is central to its history.
Among the concrete measures implemented, the water of the Val di Sole, famous for its important mineral qualities, will be available free of charge, thanks to the construction of two wooden fountains, which can also be accessed by the public. A water bottle is also provided as a gadget to all volunteers with the possibility of selling it also to the public at merchandising points;
WHET YOUR APPETITE WITH TRENTINO PRODUCTS
Gastronomic proposals with local products and the aromas and flavours of Trentino cured meats and cheeses. Waiting for the races and the champions, in the 'food & beverage' area of the World Championships you can tempt your palate with genuine, high-quality Trentino products.
The menus will also include vegetarian and vegan dishes and the renowned cheeses of the Caseificio Presanella.
STOP WASTING
In order to avoid waste, the following actions will be implemented during the three days of competitions:
WHOOP UCI MTB World Series becomes CARBON NEUTRAL
Grandi Eventi Val di Sole, the organising committee of the event, for the 2024 edition, will increase its sustainability actions and is working towards the realization of a carbon neutral event, thanks to a carbon offsetting project carried out in collaboration with Climate Partner.
With the help of Climate Partner, Grandi Eventi Val di Sole estimated the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the event. The emissions were calculated on the basis of the globally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol).
In order to achieve a carbon neutral event, emissions will be offset by supporting carbon offsetting projects, validated by independent and accredited third parties.
In particular, emissions from the 2024 Mountain Bike World Cup will be offset by supporting a project in Brazil, in a forested area of the State of Rondonia. The aim is to improve the quality of life by training farmers in sustainable farming practices and forest management.
