The season of top cycling events continues with three spectacular days in Vermiglio, at the San Leonardo lakes, from August 23 to 25. Live streaming on UCI’s Facebook and Youtube channels
A few weeks have passed from an unforgettable Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup stage in Daolasa di Commezzadura (August 2-4), when 25.000 people seized the opportunity of living an exceptional weekend for intensity, beauty and sports prestige, but the two-wheels events season in Val di Soleis not ready to stop.
Val di Sole is the Bike Land par excellence, where cycling love knows no limits of discipline and location. Hence, after Passo Tonale (Winter Downhill), Commezzadura (Giro d’Italia and MTB World Cup), Pejo (e-Enduro), Dimaro-Folgarida (Giro d’Italia Under 23) and Mezzana (Tour Transalp), now it’s Vermiglio’s turn to earn the spotlights from August 23 to 25 for the 2nd stage of the UCI Trials World Cup.
The top circuit of the discipline returns to Val di Sole a year after the first time and following the previous World Championship experiences of 2008 and 2016. Trials is a spectacular discipline, in which stability and bike handling in extreme conditions make the ultimate difference. The goal is completing the five sections, featuring natural and artificial obstacles, without touching the ground with any part of the body or the bike except for the tires.
This acrobatic discipline is taken in by men in two different categories – Class 20 and 26, based on the rims of the equipped bikes. Women compete with 20” bikes only.
Over 150 athletes from all over the World are expected in Vermiglio for the UCI Trials World Cup, including the top performers of the discipline. The images of the event will travel from Val di Sole to the fans in every Continent, thanks to the live streaming on the UCI’s official Facebook and Youtube channels.
“To face a second World Cup event in Val di Sole in the space of few weeks is a big commitment, and just as big a honor – Val di Sole Tourist Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole President Luciano Rizzi explains – confirming the role that Val di Sole and Trentino have grown to have in World cycling. We are looking forward to another successful weekend.”
The UCI Trials World Cup program will start on Friday August 23rd, with the Men’s Class 20” quarter finals. The morning of Saturday August 24th will stage the Men’s Class 26” quarterfinals, followed by Women’s semifinals in the afternoon. Sunday August 25th will be the key day: after the Men’s 20” and 26” semifinals in the morning, all the finals and the awarding ceremony will conclude an intense program in the afternoon.
