WORLD FIGURES
The Mountain Bike Olympus. These are 2016 Uci Mtb World Champs in Val di Sole, one of the most important mountain bike venues at international level. The evidence are 1,500 athletes competing for 50 nations, 450 volunteers working during the two weeks of races in Vermiglio and Daolasa and 30 thousand spectators awaited in this beautiful corner of Trentino.
It’s hard to tell how many kilometres will be covered by the athletes, how many spectacular falls, meals eaten, metres of tape used to mark the courses, beers drunk, days worked, quantity of adrenaline provided by the champions in these 14 days of races: Downhill, Cross country, 4Cross and Trials.
VOLUNTEERS, A FUNDAMENTAL RESOURCE
Volunteers are an essential workforce in great sport or complex events that could not even be planned without their help. This is the case of 2016 Uci World Championships Val di Sole, that from 29 August to 11 September will attract to this small paradise in Trentino almost two thousand competitors with umpires, technical staff, journalists who need daily logistic support. “Without our volunteers we could not even think of organizing these Championships – explained Aldo Bordati, O. C. Grandi Eventi President -. This is the power of the Val di Sole. The experience gained in these years enables us to say that today we are able to involve great professional figures in every sector. A large team of professionals and for this reason the first gold medal is for our volunteers. It’s impossible to name them all here because they are over 450, but I’d like to say to all: Thank you. Without you the Uci Mtb World Championships would have never been held in our Valley”. Among them are Volunteer fire brigades, Red Cross, Police forces, Alpine rescue, Trentino Civil Protection, and the list is still very long.
